BAEOP Educational Office Professional of the Year -
2009
Rocky
Harvey was selected as the 2009 Educational Office Professional
of the Year. Rocky has been a BSD employee for more than seventeen
years and is currently the Office Manager for the Maintenance
Department, supporting the efforts of a maintenance crew of more
than thirty-five employees.
Rocky was nominated for this recognition because of her ability
to effectively create an atmosphere that is friendly and inviting
to visitors, while being supportive to the needs of the maintenance
staff. Rocky is compassionate, caring and understanding and is
easy to get along with.
Rocky has been active in BAEOP for six years and has enhanced
her professional skills by attending inservice classes and by
being an active BAEOP member. Rocky received her PSP certification
in 2007.
BAEOP Educational Administrator of the Year – 2009
BAEOP’s
2009 Educational Administrator of the Year Award was presented
to Glenn Hasslinger. Glenn has been an Administrator of Student
Placement, BECCA-Truancy, Loss of Credit and Summer School for
the last three years. He has been with BSD for eleven years and
started as a teacher at Odle Middle School. Over the years he
has had various leadership positions at International and Robinswood.
BAEOP selected Glenn for this award, not only for his many achievements
as an educator and administrator, but also for the support he
has demonstrated for the classified staff that he has worked with
over the years. Glenn recognizes the importance of each individual
inspiring to do the best that they can and support others to do
the same.
Glen recently received the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s
“Office Peer Award.”, which honored his participation and work
in the Juvenile Court system.. He is also a member of the Truancy
Post- Filing Diversion Workgroup reporting to the Washington State
BECCA Task Force. As a member of these professional organizations,
Glenn encourages others to participate and grow by joining professional
organizations such as BAEOP.
Most of all, Glenn’s wonderful gift of laughter is a unique characteristic
that lends to harmony in the workplace. It always proves to be
the perfect remedy for any prevailing issue.
BAEOP GEM AWARD WINNERS (Go the Extra Mile) – 2009
Instructional Assistant - Soheila Mousavi-Hesari
was recognized with a GEM (Go the Extra Mile) Award because of
her leadership and dedication as Lead Teacher of a Head Start
classroom of nineteen children with various ethnic backgrounds,
children with IEP’s (Individual Education Plans) and special needs.
Soheila also provides technical assistance to assistant teachers
and oversees parent and community volunteers.
Soheila has been with Bellevue School District for five years,
but has twenty years of working with children and has an Early
Childhood Education Degree from WSU. Soheila earned her PSP in
2008. Her dedication to teaching is very commendable as she prepares
young children for a smooth transition into kindergarten.
Paraeducator
- Pam Steele from Interlake High School has worked in
the special education department for seventeen years and was awarded
the GEM (Go the Extra Mile) Award because she truly is the essence
of someone who goes the extra mile for her students and co-workers.
Pam deserves this recognition for the difference she has made
in the lives of the students that she has worked with. Pam has
a very gentle way with the students who need a extra assistance,
patience and understanding.
Pam provides extra assistance to her fellow employees
by answering questions about procedures and lessons and uses her
keen sense of with to make work enjoyable. Pam earned her PSP
in 2007. Pam has been highly praised for her work with Special
Education students and should be recognized for the sacrifices
she has made during her years of working at Interlake and making
it a better place for students and co-workers.
